IVF Success Rates
|
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
We believe that when it comes to fertility treatment, bigger is not better We don´t brag that we are
the biggest fertility clinic, or that we have the most babies born. Instead, we strive to give our patients personalized attention - care that is not possible in a very large clinic. Our focus on
quality control allows us to consistently have the
highest IVF live birth success rates in the
area. |
The best way to increase the success of IVF is by having the procedures done at a high quality program. There are important differences in IVF success rates between centers. For example, if you follow this link to the CDC website for 2005 IVF success rates for Illinois clinics, you will find IVF live birth rates per egg retrieval procedure ranging from 10% to 49% per egg retrieval for women under age 35. Some IVF programs (such as ours) are focused on absolute quality control throughout their systems, while others put their primary focus into other issues. Quality control maintenance throughout the IVF program - both on the clinical side (nurse and doctor stuff) and in the IVF lab - is critical for getting an increase in the IVF success rate.

We are proud that our IVF success rates (live births per egg retrieval) have consistently been one of the highest in the Midwest every year.

Recently, several Chicago area IVF centers have advertised that their IVF success rates are "higher than the national average". Unfortunately, some centers are being "less than truthful" (or, they need some elementary math lessons). The government (CDC) reports for some of these centers show numbers consistently below the national average. Be sure to ask your doctor for their recent IVF success rate statistics in writing - then check their numbers on the CDC report.
The table below allows consumers of infertility services to check IVF live birth success rates for any IL center. The links in the table are to the 2005 CDC report for each specific clinic (2005 is the most recent report available).

This page has details regarding in vitro fertilization success rate statistics. Our IVF success rates have consistently been well above the national average. However, don't take our word for it! Check out our IVF success rates (live birth rates) and those of all other reputable IVF centers on the CDC (US government) web site (see the links above). The most recent IVF success rate (live birth) data available from the government is for cycles done in 2005.
If you look on the CDC site for an IVF clinic and can't find it - check the 2004 CDC Non-reporting ART Clinics By State - and go to your state to see if the program is listed there. Unbelievably, some in vitro fertilization clinics are willing to break federal law by not reporting their IVF success results. This does not say much for their integrity - or their success rates.
Our goal is to have the highest delivery rates possible, while minimizing the risks of multiple pregnancy - particularly high-order multiples (more than twins). This is best accomplished by utilizing the best laboratory and embryo culture systems available, and by being prudent when deciding the number of embryos for transfer (usually no more than 2 embryos transferred). No couple needs to take a risk for more than twins from in vitro fertilization. They can insist that no more than 1 or 2 embryos be transferred. Blastocyst embryo transfer is a technique that can allow us to greatly reduce multiple pregnancy risks, while maintaining very high overall pregnancy rates. See our pregnancy rates with blastocyst transfer.
The ultimate goal with IVF should be a 100% pregnancy rate - with all singleton pregnancies. That is not currently possible, but we continue to move in that direction.
You should ask for data similar to that presented above regarding IVF pregnancy rates, delivery rates and multiple pregnancy rates from any program that you are considering for IVF services. These issues are critical, and you have a right to the information.
Any IVF program can provide this very important information - in writing. If they refuse, or make excuses about why they can't provide the details in writing, you should seriously consider going to another clinic - they probably have low success rates. There is absolutely no excuse for not being able to provide accurate and up to date information on IVF pregnancy rates and live birth rates for couples that request it. In fact, if the IVF center has a website, there is no excuse for not posting pregnancy and live birth success statistics on it.
Our IVF cycle price includes everything except medications for $9,500 (cash discounted price). The average charge at other centers is higher than this. Many centers charge $12,000 to $15,000. It is important not to equate price with quality when it comes to IVF. Some centers are very expensive and have very low success rates.
We also offer a Shared Risk IVF Plan option as well as a 100% money-back guarantee pricing option for couples that qualify.
A comparison of clinic success rates may not be meaningful because patient medical characteristics and treatment approaches vary from clinic to clinic
