Key to calendar:

Blood and ultrasound Blood and ultrasound is done a few times for the recipient woman to make sure a sufficient endometrial lining has developed..

Lupron = subcutaneous injection of a medication called Lupron. Taken once daily.

Estrogen - also referred to as E2 = We usually use an estrogen skin patch for donor IVF treatment. However, oral pills, or vaginal tablets, or even intramuscular injections of estrogen will work equally well. It doesn't really matter which product and route is used to deliver the estrogen.

Estrogen is used to develop a lining in the recipient woman's uterus that is "thick enough" and receptive. Ideally, we like to see the lining get to at least 8mm in thickness. However, many donor IVF cycles are successful with a lining thickness of 7mm, or even less.

Progesterone = vaginal cream or suppositories or intramuscular injections of a medication (natural hormone) called progesterone, which helps to prepare a receptive uterine lining for embryo implantation

For out of town donor egg recipient couples:

The day with a light blue background on the calendar is the day the male partner must come to our fertility clinic unless we are using previously frozen sperm. Please discuss the details with us.

The day with a pink background on the calendar is when the female partner must be in our area for either a day 3 or a day 5 embryo transfer procedure. Almost all of our transfers are done on day 5. Please discuss the details with us.

Note:

The calendar shown above is an example of how the cycle stimulation may evolve. The exact days of the week might vary from this schedule.
