Key to FET IVF calendar:
Lupron = subcutaneous injection of a medication called Lupron (GnRH agonist). This medication is taken once daily. It prevents the woman from ovulating during the FET cycle - which would throw off the timing of uterine receptivity.
Blood and ultrasound = blood test for estrogen and progesterone levels and transvaginal ultrasound to measure the endometrial thickness in the uterus.
Estrogen = this hormone stimulates the endometrial lining to develop and thicken. It is usually given as either skin patches or oral tablets.
Progesterone = vaginal cream or suppositories or intramuscular injection of a medication (female hormone) called progesterone. This drug helps to prepare a receptive lining for embryo implantation.
Embryo transfer procedure = procedure to put embryos in the uterus
Frozen embryo transfer success rates - what are the chances of frozen embryo transfer working?
- This depends on several variables
- Age of the woman
- Quality of the frozen embryos
- Stage of the frozen embryos (day they were frozen, usually day 3 or day 5-6)
- The quality of the uterus and how it is prepared for the FET
- The IVF lab's embryo freezing protocol and their expertise with cryopreservation
- Look up any IVF program's success rates (look at both fresh and frozen) by following our links to the SART and/or CDC websites
Cost of frozen embryo transfer
- Our frozen embryo transfer cost is $3200 plus medications. This includes the entire FET cycle - all monitoring on the female, as well as thawing, culturing and transferring the embryos.
