Meet AFCC's New Nurse Practitioner, Kat!
A Calling Inspired by Care
We’re thrilled to celebrate Kat Jungles, who officially stepped into her new role as Nurse Practitioner at Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago (AFCC) in December 2025! Kat’s path to nursing began in an unexpected place: as a teenager hospitalized with viral meningitis, she experienced firsthand the calm, steady support of nurses who cared for her. Their compassion left a lasting impact and inspired her to pursue a career dedicated to helping others feel safe, informed, and supported.
Starting her nursing career in 2018 in pediatrics, Kat soon found her calling in women’s health on a high‑risk labor and delivery unit.
“Some of my most meaningful experiences were caring for fertility patients who were finally delivering their long-awaited babies,” she shares. “Those moments were incredibly special and ultimately inspired me to join the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility department. I knew I wanted to support patients earlier in their journey and help them reach that same joyful milestone.”
A Moment That Shaped Her Approach
Among the many memories that guide Kat’s approach to care, one stands out: serving as the primary nurse for a bedside delivery in the ICU during the COVID-19 pandemic. In a high‑acuity, isolating situation for a patient, she provided calm reassurance, clear communication, and steady presence. That experience affirmed how powerful empathy and clarity can be—especially when patients need it most—and continues to shape how she cares for patients today.
Becoming a Nurse Practitioner
Kat loves being part of meaningful milestones in patients’ lives.
“Becoming a Nurse Practitioner felt like the natural next step which allows me to spend more time educating, guiding, and partnering with patients throughout their fertility journey.”
As she grows into the role, she’s excited to bring her clinical skills forward while continuing to learn alongside a supportive, talented team.
Her #1 piece of advice for patients that are just starting their fertility journey?
“Give yourself grace.” Fertility care can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Lean on your support system, trust your care team, and take things one step at a time.
Life Outside the Clinic
When she’s not in clinic, Kat loves spending time with her family and hanging with her two bulldogs, Frankie and Tucker. She enjoys staying active, being adventurous, and traveling. And a fun fact: she’s appeared on TV—in a commercial and with cameos on Chicago Med and Chicago Fire!
